From Challenge to Solution – Turning Ideas into Reality

The MPP126 project course, which forms part of the Master's Programme in Product Development, concludes each year with an exhibition where students present the results of an extensive development project carried out in close collaboration with companies and other external organisations.

Throughout the course, students work in teams on real and current challenges drawn from industry and society. The projects provide an opportunity to apply their knowledge of product development to concrete problems while gaining valuable experience of how development work is conducted in practice. Each project is supervised by representatives from both academia and the organisation behind the assignment.

The course builds on previous studies in product planning, meaning that students work on their projects over an extended period. This gives them a realistic understanding of the product development process, where ideas are gradually developed, evaluated and refined through iteration and increasing maturity.

Over the course of two days, students present their projects through reports, models and prototypes. The exhibition reflects the broad scope that characterises product development and demonstrates how engineering methods can be used to explore and develop solutions across a wide range of fields.

The event serves as a meeting place for students, companies, researchers, lecturers and other interested visitors. For the students, it is an opportunity to showcase their work and ideas, while participating organisations gain access to fresh perspectives and innovative concepts that may contribute to future development initiatives.

"I am very impressed by what the students have accomplished. It gives me great confidence in the future of the engineering profession. The exhibition is also highly valuable for the students’ future careers," says Lars Almefelt, the course examiner.
