Magnus Skoglundh, Professor of Catalysis at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, has been awarded the Bror Holmberg Medal by the Swedish Chemical Society.
The Swedish Chemical Society (Svenska Kemisamfundet) have awarded researchers the Bror Holmberg Medal in recognition of outstanding contributions to chemical research since 1968. This year, Magnus Skoglundh, Professor of Catalysis and Director of the Competence Centre for Catalysis receives the medal “for his long-standing and distinguished research in the field of heterogeneous catalysis”.
“This is fantastic. I was truly surprised and I am very proud to receive this award. It is a recognition of my research,” says Magnus Skoglundh.
His research focuses on catalysis for energy conversion and emission control. The aim is to develop new catalytic materials and catalyst-based techniques to convert greenhouse gases and other emissions to reduce their impact on the climate and the environment.
The medal ceremony took place during the department’s seminar series “Science Fika”, where researchers give short presentations of their work, with a strong emphasis on questions and discussion. However, the discussion did not take place as planned, as Krister Holmberg, Professor Emeritus at Chalmers and Chair of the Swedish Chemical Society’s Medal Committee, took over the Q&A session to present the Bror Holmberg Medal to the day’s speaker.
“We at the department are delighted to see one of our professors recognised with this well-earned honour,” says Hanna Härelind, Head of Department.
