Royal visit brings prestige to Chalmers
During his state visit to Sweden, Singapore's President Tharman Shanmugaratnam visited Chalmers together with his host, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. Among other things, they were given a tour of Chalmers NextLabs' quantum testbed and met students.
How thousands of self-driving electric taxis could be coordinated
Imagine ordering a ride on your phone and a self-driving electric car arrives within minutes. It picks you up, perhaps shares your ride with other passengers, and takes you to your destination – without a driver and without emissions. At the same time, thousands of similar vehicles move around the city, recharge their batteries when needed, and reposition themselves to be where the next passenger is likely to appear. Behind this seamless experience lies a complex puzzle. Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology have developed methods that could help thousands of vehicles plan their operations, charging and routes – even when the future is uncertain.
Researchers in exile thrive when contributing
Researchers in vulnerable conditions find it easier to establish themselves in new academic environments when they can contribute their own knowledge rather than simply receive support. A new study from Chalmers shows that reciprocal relationships create strong networks, which in turn can lead to publications, research funding and new career opportunities.
Chalmers to help build Europe’s quantum software infrastructure
As quantum computers become more powerful, making different quantum technologies work together, and alongside conventional supercomputers, is becoming an increasingly important challenge. A new European initiative, EuroQSS (Universal European Quantum Software Stack), brings together 13 partners from industry and academia, Chalmers being one, to develop a common software framework designed to make this possible.
