Alumni Day is Chalmers’ big homecoming, a day on campus filled with lots of inspiration, reunions, cutting edge research, student projects, activities, nostalgia, and plenty of Chalmers spirit. Save the date: 26 September 2026!
Throughout the day, you can explore exciting activities, projects and ideas from Chalmers today. Societies, researchers, students and alumni will showcase what is happening across a wide range of fields – from technology, sustainability and entrepreneurship to societal benefit, creativity and solutions for the future. It will be a day where curiosity, innovation and the joy of discovery take centre stage. Svea Skivgarde will help set the atmosphere with music during the day, and Alliansen, together with Chalmersbaletten and Pyrot, will also put on a spectacular show.
On stage
What will the society of the future look like – and what role will Chalmers play in shaping it?
Take part in an inspiring stage programme exploring some of the greatest challenges and opportunities of our time. Meet researchers working in quantum technology, neurotechnology, sustainable development, AI and the future of health. The day begins with a future perspective from Chalmers President Martin Nilsson Jacobi on the problems we need to solve over the next hundred years.
Giovanna Sammarco Tancredi, Senior Researcher, Quantum Technology, Microtechnology and Nanoscience, Chalmers, and Deputy Director, WACQT – The Quantum Revolution – What Happens Next?
Giacomo Valle, Assistant Professor in Bionics, Department of Electrical Engineering, Chalmers, and Head of the Neural Bionics Laboratory – Giacomo will offer insight into the future of human-centred technology, where advanced research meets questions of the body, health, function and quality of life.
You will also have the opportunity to meet this year’s alumni award recipients and hear their stories about leadership, research and the journey from Chalmers to international success.
Caroline Farberger has received the Alumni of the Year 2025 award for her unique contribution to Swedish business, societal development and norm-shifting leadership. She shows that vulnerability and strength can coexist, and that true leadership begins with the courage to be completely oneself.
The Alumni of the Year in the Rising Star category, Jonas Flygare, received the award for his academic career and his contributions to the radio astronomy of the future. As a postdoctoral researcher at Caltech, he has quickly established himself at the forefront of international research.

Campus 100 Years – From Past to Future
Join us on a journey through the history of the place where generations of Chalmers students have studied, met and been shaped. Discover how Campus Johanneberg grew and see your old study environment with new eyes.

Most Chalmers alumni have a connection to Johanneberg. But how did the campus actually come into being?
The place we remember – 100 years at Johanneberg
Johan Linton, architect, Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in the theory and history of architecture at Chalmers, will take us on an architectural-historical journey through Chalmers’ development in Gothenburg and talk about the buildings, environments and visions that have shaped the campus over the past hundred years.
How do you build a vibrant campus?
Many alumni remember Johanneberg as the place where they studied, met lifelong friends and took their first steps into working life. But what makes a campus attractive, vibrant and relevant at a time when the ways we study, work and meet are changing rapidly? Malin Dahlhielm, architect, partner and Head of Design at Spacescape, will offer insight into Johanneberg today, the qualities of the place and the visions for how Chalmers’ campus can develop in the future.
Digital campus walk and 3D model
As part of Campus at 100, a 3D-printed model of the Johanneberg campus will also be on display. The model gives visitors the opportunity to experience Johanneberg in a new way and brings together history, place development and future campus environments.
Researcher Rendezvous
Have a coffee with some of Chalmers' researchers and explore the questions shaping the future. At small café tables, you'll have the opportunity to meet researchers working in fields such as AI, quantum technology, black holes, ocean resources, neurotechnology, and the future of health.

How can we tell whether AI is telling the truth? What could quantum technology change? How can the ocean help provide the food and healthcare solutions of the future? And how can technology help the body regain its sense of touch?
After about ten minutes, you'll move to a new table and meet another researcher. It's an informal, personal, and inspiring experience, a chance to ask your own questions, discover cutting-edge research, and gain fresh perspectives on where technology and society are headed.
Some of the researchers you will meet:
Baraa Khuder, Senior Lecturer, Language and Communication, Communication and Learning in Science.
Anton Frisk Kockum, Associate Professor, Applied Quantum Physics, Microtechnology and Nanoscience,
Bengt E.W. Nilsson, Professor emeritus, Physics and Astronomy,
Rufa Lara Mendez, Postdoc, Food and Nutrition Science, Life Sciences.
Michela Cattabriga, Doctoral student, Signal Processing and Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
Leonardo Massaro, Visiting Researcher, Signal Processing and Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering
Margaret Holme, Assistant Professor, Molecular Bioscience, Life Sciences.
Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Hackathon
As a Chalmers alumnus or alumna, you are warmly welcome to visit the hackathon and meet participants, mentors and partners. It is a concrete way to see Chalmers’ innovative power in motion – from idea to problem-solving in real time.
Alumni who would like to take a more active part in the hackathon will also have the opportunity to register as participants and join a team. The registration deadline is 1 September.
