FP3 is structured into four work packages that together address key scientific, technological, and organisational challenges in the development of future fusion power plants. Each work package contributes a distinct expertise while being closely integrated within the overall project framework.
WP1 – Integrated Core–Edge Plasma Modelling
Development of advanced simulation tools that integrate plasma core, edge, and wall interactions to support the design and operation of future fusion power plants.
WP2 – Plasma Pedestal Physics
Development of predictive models for the plasma pedestal region, combining experimental data, physics-based modelling, and machine-learning approaches.
WP3 – Plasma–Wall Interactions and Materials
Investigation of material degradation and surface modification under fusion-relevant conditions, providing input for reactor design and integrated modelling.
WP4 – Management and Coordination
Project coordination, reporting, and operation of the FP3 collaboration platform, including communication, meetings, and external engagement.
