    General entry requirements for bachelor's level studies

    Course specific prerequisites

    In addition to the general requirements to study at the first-cycle level program that the student is admitted to, necessary subject or project specific prerequisite competences (if any) must be fulfilled. Alternatively, the student must obtain the necessary competences during the course. The examiner will formulate and check these prerequisite competences.
    The student will only be admitted in agreement with the examiner.

    Aim

    The course provides basic skills for working with challenge-driven cross-disciplinary authentic problems in teams.

    Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

    • reason around project methods and formulate strategies to solve problems with open solution spaces including scientific and ethical aspects
    • assess the need for information, search for such information and critically evaluate its relevance
    • be able to work in multidisciplinary team with different backgrounds and competences
    • plan and hold a clear presentation in writing and orally
    • give constructive feedback on a presentation
    • fulfill project specific learning outcomes

    Content

    The course includes a number of methods for project-based work around challenge-driven interdisciplinary authentic problems. The teaching is supplemented and supported by the necessary subject-specific digital teaching, supervision and self-studies.

    Organisation

    The course is organized around lectures, exercises and project work.

    Literature

    Relevant literature is retrieved and acquired by the students as a part of the project.

    Examination including compulsory elements

    The courses is evaluated by criteria for the learning outcomes. Final grade will be based the results of the process and individual reflection on the process.

    The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers about disability study support.
