Aim

The aim of the course is to provide the student with understanding and knowledge of the operational management and leadership on board a passenger ship and passenger ship emergency/crisis organisation as well as on management of large groups of passengers and crew.

The purpose of this course is to establish sufficient knowledge in stability enabling correct actions in an emergency or incident in order to save crew, ship and cargo.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

Part A Passenger ships and crowd and crisis management
- Theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the organizations and management structures on board passenger / cruise ships.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures specific to the passenger / cruise ships.
- Knowledge and practical skills specific for vessel operations for passenger / cruise ships
- Theoretical knowledge in crisis management for rating-course Crowd And Crisis Management, CCM

Part B Emergencies and damage control
- Describe the parties who are involved in e.g. a grounding
- Describe the steps one should take in the first stage after an incident
- Perform the calculations required to determine the force with which a ship is aground
- Define stability-changing concepts and their impact on a ship at sea

Part CD Leadership on board
- Describe how we understand ourselves in relation to how we understand others

- Part of the course - Crisis management / Crowd and Crisis Management, CCM - meets the requirements of TSFS 2011: 116 General guidelines to Annex 6 for issuing the certificate.

Part B Emergencies and damage control
The course consists of lectures, mandatory simulator session and ends through several mandatory Quizzes.

Part CD Leadership on board
- The course is an introductory course to leadership. The reasoning will be based on small crews that are often distributed in time and space. 
- In the course there will be several different elements; lectures, exercises, and role plays.The central form of work will be the seminar, which will include the study of specific material. In the seminars, you will be approved if you have presented the material and put a personal reflection on it. The reflection does not have to be in line with what the teacher's opinion is on the issue, as long as the argument for the position is well substantiated and opinions and premises can be clearly distinguished.
