Educational developers

Chalmers continuously develops its programmes to meet the needs of the future. The educational developers support teachers and programme directors in enhancing courses and programmes, while also driving initiatives at a central level to strengthen the quality and relevance of education.

Chalmers University of Technology is continuously working to develop and renew its educational programmes. A central part of this effort is the role of educational developers, who are organisationally part of Chalmers Tracks.

The educational developers contribute to strengthening the quality of both courses and programmes by supporting teachers and programme directors in areas such as teaching, assessment and programme design. This may involve developing interdisciplinary project courses, integrating transversal skills, promoting digitalisation in education, or documenting and disseminating pedagogical development projects.

At programme level, the educational developers take part in the design and development of programmes, where they also support the integration of Chalmers’ strategies and long-term educational goals.

The function also has a central mandate, given by the Executive Committee for Education. By monitoring pedagogical trends and international developments, the educational developers propose initiatives that strengthen Chalmers’ educational profile, including those linked to the CDIO engineering education framework.

The educational developers collaborate with other support functions, such as the division of Engineering Education Research at the Department of Communication and Learning in Science and the Blended Learning team. They are also involved in the development of the Chalmers educational conference KUL and in the assessment of nominations for Chalmers’ pedagogical prize.

The support is tailored to the needs of teachers and may take the form of thematic workshops, digital resources or individual meetings. In this way, the educational developers help ensure that Chalmers’ programmes continue to evolve in line with the future needs of society and students.
