Industry 5.0 marks a significant evolution in industrial transformation, emphasizing the integration of digital technologies to create sustainable, resilient, and human-centric factories.

The presentation explores how digitally supported approaches can enhance manufacturing processes and systems to improve energy and resource efficiency, worker health and safety as well as resilience of manufacturing systems. Exemplary smart technologies and related use cases will be introduced as base for a interactive discussion and identification of cooperation potentials.

Professor Sebastian Thiede

Professor Sebastian Thiede, University of Twente

Biography: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sebastian Thiede is a full professor of Manufacturing Systems at the University of Twente (Netherlands) and chairman of the Department of Design, Production and Management (DPM) within the faculty Engineering Technology. Prof. Thiede is interested in innovative technologies, methods and tools for the planning and operation of manufacturing systems and whole factories. Special attention is on sustainability, human centricity and flexibility of future factories. Prof. Thiede is the ambassador of the Smart Industry route within the Dutch National Science Agenda (NWA) and besides that Associate Member of CIRP, the International Academy of Production Engineering, as well as vice-president of IALF, the International Association of Learning Factories.
