Title: Non-Equilibrium Quasiparticles in Superconducting Qubits

The presence of quasiparticles poses a fundamental limitation on the coherence of superconducting qubits. Additionally, the sensitivity to quasiparticles renders the qubit a unique tool for measuring their dynamics in superconductors. In this talk, I will review the basic theory of the interaction between quasiparticles and qubit degrees of freedom and present recent results from a joint experimental and theoretical study of quasiparticle dynamics in superconducting qubits.
