In this presentation, Anna Grzelec examine the ways in which stereotypical gender roles (and indirectly, heteronormativity) influence engineering and suggest queering engineering as a way to break the tight connection between masculinity and engineering. By analyzing gender and technology as co-constructed, new stereotypes can be constructed, thereby changing the gendering of engineering. This can help to move technology to a more inclusive realm.

The seminars are held on Tuesdays, 13.00-14.30 at the Department of Technology Management and Economics (hybrid format, zoom link sent out via email ahead of the seminars). The seminar takes the format of presentation, followed by discussion and questions. The seminars are held in English.

Seminar chair: Lisa Lindén, Associate Professor in Gender and Technology, Division of Science, Technology & Society, Chalmers
