Topics to be covered

Wieczorek lab

The symposium will cover a broad range of topics all related to the study of mechanical resonators in the quantum regime. A number of fundamental questions will be discussed, such as: What are the key developments and outstanding challenges for the development of opto- and electromechanical systems in the quantum regime? What are the fundamental advantages to quantum-enhanced sensing with mechanical resonators? What opportunities are there for applying mechanical resonators towards quantum information-processing application? How can mechanical resonators in the quantum regime test the limits of quantum mechanics and fundamental physics? These questions will be addressed in sessions centered around the following key topics:

  • Quantum mechanics with optomechanical systems
  • Quantum mechanics with electromechanical systems
  • Quantum sensing with mechanical systems
  • Quantum information applications with mechanical systems
  • Quantum foundations with mechanical systems
