One of the main objectives for the Africa Program is to establish an Innovation Co-working Space for the team working on the Africa Program, which was enabled by the Chalmers' strategic funding approved in 2024 by the President and CEO of Chalmers. The establishment of the co-working space will primarily accommodate Chalmers personnel and researchers, partners of the Africa Program, and UniPod Rwanda staff.
At the co-working space, researchers and students from Chalmers will find a desk, a place to eat your lunch and have a coffee with people from all over the world, with a great view of the Kigali City.
It will also serve as a dedicated hub for partner institutions from global universities, providing a professional environment. This physical space will not only strengthen existing partnerships but also foster the development of new collaborations, enabling increased academic exchange, innovation, and joint research initiatives, between academia, industry and government, with students at the center.

The design represents the multifaceted Rwandan and Swedish style and signals creativity and care for people and nature. The space will be furnished with materials and furniture made in Rwanda and by the incubates of the UniPod makerspace. Design is done with environmental, social and economic sustainability as guiding principles, and visitors who enter the space will find it showcases and embodies the spirit of the Africa Program.
