Andrea Seveso

PhD student

Andrea joined the division of Industrial Biotechnology as a PhD student in April 2019, as part of the Wallenberg Wood Science Center. His research focuses on discovery and characterization of novel carbohydrate-active enzymes, from different microorganisms, targeting the complex components of plant cell wall. The aim is to advance the knowledge on these enzymes, which are important for the efficient degradation of lignocellulosic materials. Improving wood biomass utilization is a crucial step for the development of a bio-based economy, as the products resulting from its breakdown can serve for sustainable production of biochemicals, biofuels and new biomaterials.
