Sebnem Yilmaz Balaman joined the Division of Physical Resource Theory on February 2020 as a post doc researcher. She is originally from Turkey. She has received her PhD degree in Industrial Engineering from Dokuz Eylul University, Turkey and has been working as an assistant professor and an associate professor there since then.
Her research interests centre on development and application of modelling / optimization approaches for design and management of biomass-based energy production chains with a specific focus on sustainability aspects. She also conducts interdisciplinary research on multi objective mathematical modelling and its applications in sustainable design of renewable energy and materials production. She worked as a post doc researcher in the UK for one year and took part in a research group working on design of bioenergy supply chains in the West Midlands Region.
At Chalmers, she is working in Green Valleys project on developing modelling approaches for green biorefinery development and exploring the environmental and economic effects of land use change towards grassland integration in the landscape to support the green biorefinery development.
