Marie Schöpping

PhD student

Marie Schöpping is an industrial PhD student at the Division of Industrial Biotechnology and the Bacterial Physiology department at Chr. Hansen, a global supplier of food cultures, probiotics, enzymes and natural colors. Her research focuses on in-depth characterization of the physiology and metabolism of probiotic Bifidobacterium strains using a systems biology approach, and use of the acquired knowledge for process development. By applying a combination of mathematical modelling and high throughput ‘omics’ data she aims to establish relationships between the basic physiology and production yields as well as to identify biomarkers in bifidobacteria that are descriptive of the cell's stability during production and long term storage.
