Dr. Basu’s research background is on technology of macromolecular compounds and polymer chemistry. His current research focuses on the dissolution of cellulose and the characterization of recalcitrant structures of cellulose in an aqueous based alkaline solvent system. Cellulose is an important biopolymer and thus the identification of the recalcitrant structures affecting dissolution and behavior in solutions will facilitate a broader and improved r utilization of this biomaterial.
