Per Hogström

Senior Lecturer, Director of the Master programme in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering as well as the Nordic Master in Maritime Engineering

Per Hogström graduated as a MSc in Naval Architecture in 2004 and worked as a test engineer before starting as a Ph.D. student in 2007. His dissertation was put forward in the spring of 2012. Per's research focus is on numerical simulation of ship collisions, both structural simulations of the collision event as well as the consequences in terms of the sinking/capsize sequence of a damaged ship. The purpose is to give recommendations on how to set up collision simulations and quantify the effects of uncertainties in input parameters to the simulations. In addition, the crashworthiness of innovative ship structures designed to mitigate the consequences of a collision is evaluated.
