My research focuses on further developments of a new combustion model for CFD simulations of turbulent combustion in engines. Most engine combustion models in use today assume either premixed (gasoline) or non-premixed combustion (diesel). However, many of the new engine concepts for low pollutant and highly efficient combustion utilize both or even mixed modes of combustion.
In this project we will extend the recently at CERC developed general purpose engine combustion model RILEM (Representative Interactive Linear-Eddy Model). The project is financed by Chalmers Combustion Engine Research Center CERC.
