Jun Yang

Research Engineer, Department of Space, Earth and Environment, Onsala Space Observatory, Observational support

VLBI represents Very Long Baseline Interferometry. With the technique, astronomers can synthesize the radio signal observed by multiple telescopes across great distances and produce images with a resolution up to 10 micro-arcsecond.

Jun is an expert on the operation and calibration of VLBI experiments at Onsala Space Observatory. Jun also have a great experience on running JIVE software correlator SFXC and reviewing the correlation data.

Jun is also an astronomer and his major interest is VLBI-detectable radio transients, such as X-ray black hole binaries, novae, and tidal disruption events. Moreover, Jun have studied pulsars and active galactic nuclei.
