Zhenhua focuses her research mainly on the sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDSs), specializing in modeling (including statistical and hydrological modeling). Because the construction of roads has adverse effects on biodiversity and the ecosystem services that it provides, the aim is to develop a model that can be used to design SuDSs, e.g. wetlands and ponds. Such sustainable drainage systems have the ability to compensate for the adverse effects on aquatic biodiversity caused by road construction, e.g. ecotoxicity of pollutants, thereby promoting aquatic biodiversity along the roads.
