Janine Splettstoesser

Professor, Microtechnology and Nanoscience, Applied Quantum Physics Laboratory

I am a Professor in theoretical physics in the Applied Quantum Physics Group at MC2 and director of the Excellence Initiative Nano at Chalmers. I obtained my master degree (Diplom) from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany in 2003.
In 2007 I received my PhD from Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa in Italy and Ruhr-Universität Bochum in Germany in a cotutoring agreement under the supervision of Rosario Fazio and Jürgen König.
After having worked as a postdoc in the group of Markus Büttiker at the Université de Genève in Switzerland, I was appointed as University professor at the RWTH Aachen in Germany in 2009, and moved to Chalmers in the end of 2013.
My research interest lies in the field of quantum transport in nanostructures, where I focus on the study of dynamical transport properties, and in the field of nanoscale thermodynamics. Examples of subjects I treated are quantum pumping, single-particle emission and the relaxation behavior and time scales of various types of quantum dot systems, fluctuations and correlations, and non-thermal resources for thermodynamic processes.

I am currently a Wallenberg Academy Fellow, which provides me a long-term funding in the field of quanum transport and thermodynamics, and Mercator Fellow of the Graduate School "Quantum many-body methods in condensed matter systems" at the RWTH Aachen.
