About the course
The objective of
this course is to provide doctoral students with an in-depth understanding of
thermal management (TM) in road vehicles. The course places particular emphasis
on vehicles equipped with alternative propulsion systems, highlighting the principles,
design, and operation of thermal components that enable optimal energy
efficiency and overall system performance.
The content of the course is as follows:
- Presentations from the students on their own research topics
- Guest lectures from people from the automotive industry
- Selection of scientific relevant papers to read and discuss in group
- A short project on the topic of the students choice
- Project presentation and discussions
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- Explain the importance and role of thermal management in road vehicles.
- Analyse different thermal systems and their interactions within the overall vehicle architecture.
- Propose and evaluate system-level solutions for thermal optimization.
- Critically assess the challenges and future trends in automotive thermal management systems.
