About the course
The course will provide an introduction to organic electronic materials, with emphasis on those used in current research and relevant for emerging applications. In particular, the course will cover the following topics:
- synthesis of organic semiconductors and conjugated polymers
- optical properties (energy levels, light emission and absorption)
- electronic, electrical and electrochemical properties
- chemical and electrochemical doping
- processing (solution, melt and vapor phase)
- structural characterization including key characterization techniques (XRD, TEM, AFM)
- case studies of different application areas, e.g. photovoltaics, thermoelectrics, energy storage, bioelectronics, wearable electronics
- environmental aspects
