By combining two existing cement technologies, developing them further while optimising the production process, this project will provide a new type of high-performance cement with a very low carbon footprint.

The production of traditional portland cement accounts for for up to 9 percent of the world's anthropogenic carbon emissions. The fragile state of the cement industry, Sweden no exception, further reinforces the need to find a sustainable alternative to reduce the environmental impact without slowing down the pace of development of building and infrastructure projects.
This project aims to develop and optimise production and application techniques based on clinker-free supersulfate cement from slag in combination with BCSA cement. We combine and further develop these two existing cement technologies into high performance, very low carbon dioxide emission cements that are already partly compatible with current Swedish and European standards.
The result of the project is expected to provide the the Swedish cement industry with several state-of-the-art low carbon cement technologies that will complement the existing Portland-based technology.
