Objectives

MoreH2 focuses on the component that most strongly affects both cost and lifetime of electrolysis systems: the bipolar plate (PEMWE) and interconnect (SOEC).

The project will:
• Develop advanced materials.Create coated stainless steels that replace today’s expensive titanium and noble-metal components.

• Improve durability and efficiency. Design coatings and steel grades that withstand harsh acidic or high-temperature environments.

• Validate performance in real systems. Demonstrate promising materials in lab tests, short stacks, and full-size industrial stacks.

• Understand degradation mechanisms. Use advanced characterization tools to uncover how materials age and how to improve them.

• Engage Nordic stakeholders. Share findings with industry, system suppliers, and policymakers to support the hydrogen transition.
