Material chemistry research is important for a sustainable society, e.g. for the development of new sustainable energy systems. In many cases the development of new, energy-saving and environmentally friendly, techniques are limited by the degradation of materials at high temperature. Jan-Erik Svenssons research concerns mainly material chemistry for energy applications, focusing on fundamental aspects of the oxidation and corrosion processes. Application areas includes Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC), HT-PEM and green electricity production from biomass.
