Study how cyber-physical systems collect, process, protect, and exchange information. You will explore how connected systems use sensors, wireless communication, positioning, computer vision, and machine learning to perceive their surroundings, combine data from multiple sources, and operate reliably in complex environments. These capabilities are central to technologies such as autonomous systems, intelligent transportation, smart cities, traffic safety, eHealth, Industry 4.0, cloud services, and the internet of things.

In the communication and sensing specialisation, you will work with digital communication, wireless networks, signal processing, coding, inference, sensor fusion, nonlinear filtering, and secure networked systems. You will learn how data can be transmitted, compressed, interpreted and protected. You will also explore how intelligent systems analyse visual information, recognise patterns and learn from data. The specialisation connects communication with sensing and control, showing how wireless technologies can be used not only to exchange information, but also to monitor and influence connected systems.
You will be prepared for careers in areas such as telecommunications, wireless networks, sensing and signal processing, autonomous systems, secure networked systems, and intelligent communication technologies. Through theoretical study and applied problem-solving, you will develop strong analytical skills and understand how communication, computation, sensing, and control come together in modern cyber-physical systems. You will be able to contribute to reliable, secure, and intelligent digital technologies for an increasingly connected world.
