You will learn how to choose the right materials and manufacturing methods for different products, and how these choices influence quality, performance, reliability, and sustainability. Topics include machining, metal forming, joining technologies, additive manufacturing, and advanced production processes. The specialisation is closely connected to research in manufacturing technologies, powder technology, and battery manufacturing. You will also have the chance to complete a project linked to these ideas at laboratory environments including the Materials Processing Lab and the Additive Manufacturing at Chalmers research centre.

All these skills are particularly relevant across sectors where performance and safety are critical, such as the automotive and aerospace industries. After graduation, you could move into roles in manufacturing process development, advanced production engineering, additive manufacturing, or battery manufacturing.
