Gothenburg is a coastal city, with a rich history of shipping and maritime industries, and Chalmers has long played an important role in educating people to work in these areas.
You will investigate ship resistance and propulsion, hydrodynamics and learn to understand the complex nature of how ships respond and behave in water. Other courses focus on structural engineering, stability and design for marine structures, wave loads, risk and reliability analysis and more. You will have access to research facilities such as the Marine Technology Lab, a new unit for testing marine structures in water, allowing you to visualise and measure how floating objects behave in turbulent conditions.
This choice prepares you for roles in ship design, maintenance and structural engineering within maritime environments.
