The finite element method is central to this specialisation, and you will learn to apply it to a wide range of problems. You work with both custom implementations, writing and validating your own code, as well as commercial finite element software widely used throughout industries.
Courses are a mix of theoretical foundations and applied simulation projects, helping hone your ability to critically assess the accuracy and limitations of your models. You will dive into topics like material mechanics, structural dynamics, fatigue and fracture and composite mechanics. The skills you learn will be relevant across many engineering sectors, wherever structural performance and material reliability are critical. This includes roles such as structural analyst, simulation engineer and stress engineer.
