Air Quality

Luftkvalitet

Air pollution is a major contributor to premature mortality. At the same time, particles generated from brakes, tyres and road surfaces, so-called non-exhaust emissions from vehicles, remain a relatively underexplored area.

Within the field of air quality research, we aim to advance understanding of both exhaust and non-exhaust emissions from road traffic. Our work focuses in particular on developing system-level understanding and improving methods for emissions measurement. This is essential in order to, in collaboration with medical and epidemiological research, clarify the causal relationships between exposure and health effects that have not yet been fully established by the WHO.

Research in this area is conducted in collaboration with Sahlgrenska University Hospital, GMV at the University of Gothenburg, and RISE.

If you would like to learn more about our research in air quality, please feel free to contact Associate Professor Jonas Sjöblom, who leads the work in this field.
