Discover how Chalmers’ new Master’s programme in NewSpace Systems Engineering combines space technology, systems thinking and entrepreneurship. Meet the Programme Director and researchers from Onsala Space Observatory, hear a student perspective on Chalmers and ask your questions.
Overview
Space is becoming an increasingly commercial, entrepreneurial and fast-moving sector. This creates a need for engineers who can understand complete space systems while also considering innovation, commercialisation and responsible development.
Join representatives from NewSpace Systems Engineering and Onsala Space Observatory for a live introduction to the programme:
Erik Bohlin, Director of the Master’s programme
Rüdiger Haas, Professor and Head of Unit at Onsala Space Observatory
Karine le Bail, Associate Professor at Onsala Space Observatory
A Chalmers student ambassador, who will contribute a student perspective on studying at Chalmers and living in Gothenburg
NewSpace Systems Engineering combines technical foundations in space engineering with entrepreneurship and hands-on project work. Students can specialise in Space Propulsion, Space Structures and Materials, Space Electronics and Software, or Space Geodesy and Remote Sensing.
During the webinar, we will discuss:
What distinguishes NewSpace from traditional space activity
The programme’s content, structure and four specialisations
Spacecraft and space-systems design projects
Connections to Chalmers research, Onsala Space Observatory and industry
Possible professional and academic directions after graduation
The wider experience of studying at Chalmers
Participants will have time to ask questions directly to the panel.
The webinar is intended for prospective Master’s students considering studies at Chalmers from autumn 2027.
