Abstract
100 years ago, Werner Heisenberg published a groundbreaking paper entitled 'On the Quantum-Theoretical Reinterpretation of Kinematic and Mechanical Relations'.

Werner Heisenberg’s article on the Springer website.

This was the first conceptual formalism covering quantum features which had been introduced since 1900 by Planck, Einstein, Bohr and others on a phenomenological basis. Shortly afterwards Erwin Schrödinger published the equation that now bears his name.

Schrödinger’s equation in Wiley’s online library.

This breakthrough catalyzed rapid developments, including Dirac’s quantum theory of the emission and absorption of radiation (1927) and Bloch’s theorem (1929). These laid the foundations to semiconductor and laser technology, which is indispensable in today's world. In this presentation, I will explore this scientific revolution, highlighting the key conceptual advances of its landmark publications.
