Visit Chalmers’ brand new marine technology lab, MTL

MTL is a facility with tanks, able for testing of marine structures in water where students and researchers have the possibility to visualize and measure phenomena with floating objects in waves.

In the laboratory teachers can show students motions of ships and offshore structures in waves as well as stability of ships. Researcher can study wave response of floating structures, erosion from waves or floating structures as wind turbines or ageing of materials in water.

MTL provides:

• The wave trough; a wave tank for long crested deep-water waves
• Motion capture system for tracking of moving objects
• Experimental models and 3D printer for prototype manufacturing
