Abstract:

In this lecture, Daniel Johansson will present insights from his research on how society can meet global climate targets. His work combines climate science, economics, and systems analysis to better understand the links between societal, technical, and Earth systems. Using and developing integrated assessment
models, he examines emission pathways consistent with the Paris Agreement and explores how negative emissions can contribute to reaching its climate goals.

The lecture will also highlight findings on the climate impacts of different greenhouse gases and on the role of aviation in mitigation.

Daniel will also reflect on the role of an interdisciplinary approach to climate modeling in advancing scientific understanding of how to achieve effective climate mitigation.
