The Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) and Chalmers Railway Mechanics (CHARMEC) invite you to a results conference at Chalmers University of Technology on 27–28 August 2025. On Day 1, the Centres of Excellence in Railway Research will present current and relevant research, as well as its connection to excellence within the railway sector.

The national Centres of Excellence span key areas of the railway system. Within each centre, knowledge development is prioritised based on what provides the greatest contribution and impact on railway availability in a sustainable society. The ambition is to develop world-leading expertise within these areas. At the same time, the programme indirectly supports education and skills development for the railway sector. The programme also participates in and collaborates with the EU’s railway research initiative, Europe’s Rail 2022–2031. More information about the Railway Excellence Programme is available here.
The programme will have been active for six years and is funded by the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket). Each year, a results conference is held where research outcomes from the Centres of Excellence are presented across the ten different excellence areas.

Study visit
CHARMEC offers a separate study visit to our materials laboratory and brake rig from 10:00 to 11:00 on August 27.
- Registration is done in connection with the general conference registration.
- Location: Ground floor outside Café Bulten (Building M, entrance from Hörsalsvägen 7A).
