Abstract:

Some argue that AI is an “all or nothing” problem, which depends on getting one challenge right: AI alignment. We argue against this view: we should be prepared for a wide range of challenges driven by broad technological progress, which could arrive in quick succession. This is joint work with Will MacAskill.

Bio:

Fin Moorhouse is a Research Fellow at Forethought, a nonprofit researching ways to prepare for advances in AI. Previously he was a researcher at Longview Philanthropy, and the Future of Humanity Institute. He has a background in philosophy.
