Abstract: Let A be a standard graded algebra over a field K. The algebra A is said to be Koszul if the field K, viewed as an A-module, has a linear free resolution. This property, which was introduced by Priddy in 1970, gives the algebra A a particularly nice homological structure. Koszulness has appeared to be a common property of several interesting examples in algebra and geometry. In this talk, I will give a short introduction to Koszul algebras, including examples and techniques for proving that a given algebra is Koszul.
