Description

The Surf ’n’ NuRF summer school aims to create a collaborative environment for young researchers and experts working at the intersection of differential geometry, stochastic analysis, and numerical methods for (stochastic) partial differential equations.

The objective of the school is to focus on the study of manifolds under the influence of randomness, the behaviour of random fields on geometric objects, and the numerical challenges arising from simulating such evolving stochastic systems.

The school will feature three lecture series delivered by invited experts, complemented by selected research seminars that highlight current developments and open problems in the field. In addition to the scientific programme, a dedicated poster session will give early-career participants the opportunity to present their work and exchange ideas in an informal setting.

During the week, a social evening with dinner will be held.

All activities will take place at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Gothenburg.

Application and Registration

Please apply by 1 March 2026 via the online form. For late application/registration inquiries, contact the organisers.

The number of participants is limited; selection will be made based on your background and motivation written in the registration form of the summer school.

Selection of the talks will be done after the deadline and an email will be sent to the speakers. There is a limited amount of financial support for early career researchers to cover local expenses for some participants, with priority given to applicants from developing countries and underrepresented groups.

Applicants requesting support should send a CV to andreapa@chalmers.se with the subject ”Funds for Surf”.

Organisers

Schedule

Each lecture series consists of four 90-minute lectures. There will be one afternoon poster session and a selected number of, approximately, 30-minute (25+5) contributed talks.
