Abstract: Fermat's Great Theorem was proved around 1995 by A. Wiles using completely new methods.

Old methods go back to Euler and mainly developed by Kummer.

Further developments of the "old ways" towards proving Fermat's Great Theorem are due to Vandiver. He formulated an important conjecture, which implied the so-called first case of Fermat's Great Theorem (this statemnt needs to be confirmed).

Later, it turned out that Kummer also knew this conjecture.

I will explain my approach to prove the Kummer-Vandiver conjecture using a fine structure of the Picard group of the integer group ring of the cyclic group of order p^2.

If there will be an interest to this topic, I will continue with more lectures/seminars.
