Inaugural lecture Professor in Mathematics

The main purpose of this talk is to explain why I love the Rogers-Ramanujan identities. I will describe some of their history, and some of their links to diverse areas such as integer partitions, affine Lie algebras and solvable lattice models. If time permits, I will briefly discuss some of my own related work. The talk will be fairly non-technical.
