Abstract: Selflessness, as introduced by Robert, has recently taken center stage in the study of reduced C*-algebras of discrete groups. In this talk, I will present some of the results justifying this trend. I will focus on a preprint of Ozawa, which—among other results—provides the largest known class of C*-selfless groups.
