Abstract: I will give a brief introduction for mathematicians to scattering amplitudes. The main example will be amplitudes for the graviton, that carries the force of gravity. In particular, the introduction connects amplitudes to various topics in mathematics, such as divergent integrals, automorphic forms, and single-valued polylogarithms. I will then briefly discuss my recent work with Haack and Zimmerman (LMU Munich) on this topic.
