Abstract: Hyperuniformity of point processes in Euclidean spaces was introduced in a seminal paper by Torquato and Stillinger '03, generalizing the notion of long-range dependence for such processes. Examples include perfect crystals(lattices), "most" quasicrystals(cut-and-project sets), certain determinantal point processes and more. We investigate some contending definitions of hyperuniformity for point processes in hyperbolic space, and highlight some new phenomena arising in this negatively curved setting. During the talk I will recall hyperuniformity in Euclidean spaces and provide explicit examples, before moving on to the hyperbolic setting. No familiarity with hyperuniformity will be assumed.

Based on joint work with Michael Björklund.
