Abstract: I will discuss how symbolic dynamics provides interesting examples of (topological full) groups and C*-algebras via a noncommutative orbit space (a groupoid). How much of the underlying dynamics do these groups and C*-algebras remember? Sometimes nothing, sometimes something, and sometimes everything! I will also discuss examples and some open questions.
