How can industrial decarbonisation be modelled in an increasingly complex and uncertain world?
Welcome to a seminar on 9 October with Pedro Linares, Professor of Industrial Engineering at Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid, on the challenges of bringing energy, materials, trade and competitiveness into the same picture.
Overview

Abstract
Pedro Linares will review the major challenges in modelling industrial decarbonisation, particularly the integration of its key dimensions: energy, materials, trade, competitiveness and strategic autonomy. He will also address an increasingly important consideration for policy and investment modelling: how epistemic uncertainty can be incorporated through robust optimisation.
Bio
Pedro Linares is Professor of Industrial Engineering at the ICAI School of Engineering, Comillas Pontifical University, Madrid. He is Director of the BP Chair on Energy and Sustainability, co-founder and Director of Economics for Energy, and a researcher at Comillas’s Institute for Technology Research (IIT). He is also an Affiliate Researcher at the MIT Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEPR), and Editor-in-Chief of The Energy Journal.
His research examines the links between energy, economics and the environment, with particular expertise in sustainable energy policy, energy-system modelling, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and decision-making under uncertainty.
