Abstract: Due to advances in digital electronics, enabling the construction of multichannel digital radars, there is an increased interest in multistatic radar – where a radar system consists of two, or more, transmitter- and receiver-nodes located at different positions. Digital radar means that the signal behind each antenna element in an array antenna is independently generated/digitized, with many similarities to modern base stations for wireless communication. In digital receivers it is possible to do parallel digital beamforming – which simplifies the operational use of multistatic radar a lot. In this lecture, I will discuss various aspects of multistatic radar including pros and cons and connections to research that is done at Chalmers.
