Abstract:
For a control engineer, feedback is the single most important tool in the toolbox - it provides inherent robustness to disturbances and model uncertainties - but when it comes to quantum systems, the idea of feedback has to be reconsidered due to the measurement collapse postulate of quantum mechanics. In this talk, I give a brief glimpse into how we as control theorists approach the problem of quantum control with emphasis on stability (in the sense of Lyapunov) and the use of quantum non-demolition measurements for feedback control.
