Abstract: Pulse Doppler radar is the workhorse of long-range sensor systems in a defence context. The technology has been around since the 60s but the field is now entering a new exciting era with fast ADCs/DACs and accessible high-performance digital electronics transforming the way systems can be built. I will discuss modern trends in traditional radar applications, as well as show exotic applications of the pulse Doppler technique via a 340 GHz radar system for industrial sensing.
